On Saturday June 15th 2019 St Hilda’s Church, Gibraltar Road, Halifax (HX1 4HE) will be holding a Coffee Morning and information session about the Mugumu Safe House in Mara diocese, Tanzania.
The Safe House provides care, protection, and education for girls at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and currently supports 54 girls. The work of the Safe House was featured in a BBC documentary in February this this year, “Defying the Cutting Season” At St Hilda’s we are raising money to buy uniforms to enable the girls to continue their education.
The coffee morning will be from 10am – 12 noon; craft items will be on sale and there will be a cake stall; there will be also be a display of photographs and information about about Mara and the Safe House. Two members of the Leeds Diocese Tanzania Committee will be at the coffee morning to give up to date information about Mugumu.
St Hilda’s Church is accessible for people with disabilities. It is on the 542 bus route from Halifax. Car parking is on nearby streets.
