On Wednesday 10th May, in the glorious sunshine, Halifax Central Initiative along with the central safer, cleaner greener team, North & East Team and fellow residents, did a major clean up at Shroggs Valley. This hidden gem has a tree lined pathway that runs from Pellon lane through to Brackenbed. Unfortunately it is also used as a flytipping area. So with litter picks in hand, the team filled nearly 70 bags of rubbish and removed larger items including vehicle parts, car seats, mattresses and a number of debris. The area which looks over Lee Mount and the valley across to north Halifax and is a popular route for dog walkers. Between the two neighbourhood teams we are trying to get the area cleaned up and keep on top of the litter, the residents are also on hand to help and monitor the area with us as well as keep it tidy. We will be running a clean up in this area hopefully every 6 weeks, so look out for information and come on down and lend a helping hand to clean up this hidden gem in the heart of Halifax!
