‘Start Your Own Business!’ – Free ‘Drop-in’ Advice Sessions
What is a ‘Start Your Own Business!’ – Drop-in Advice Session?
The drop-in sessions are free to attend and for anyone, unemployed or not within Calderdale who is considering starting their own business or would like to learn about self-employment.
The sessions are informal and on a ‘drop-in’ basis so that you can call in at anytime during the session at the various locations where they are taking place. No appointment needed!
You can ask questions, participate in discussions, share ideas/make new contacts, receive information on other useful resources, take away factsheets and receive expert advice. If you prefer a confidential 1-to-1 advice meeting or for any follow up advice after attending a session, this can be arranged also free of charge.
What can you learn at the drop-in sessions?
During the sessions, you can find answers to questions such as:
- How do you become self-employed?
- Who do you need to contact?
- What other support is available?
We can also discuss topics such as – How to research your idea – Writing a business plan – Advertising/Marketing – Premises – Tax/Finance – Business Insurance – Employing Staff – Business networking – Social Media – Legal etc. For those keen to learn more, we also have a limited number of places available on free ‘starting in business’ workshops subject to eligibility.
How could the sessions help you?
We don’t want to pressurise anyone into starting a business. The advice and information that we provide is to make a person better informed and more confident so that they make the decision themselves from the knowledge they have gained. As a consequence, some will become self-employed and those that decide not to will have a better understanding of how a business operates which may help them in applying for jobs, during interview discussions and could make them potentially more valuable employees and improve their career prospects. Whatever questions that you may have, we will try to find the answers to help you. Any feedback from attending the sessions is also appreciated.
The drop-in sessions are running every month throughout the year at various locations around Calderdale and we will also be considering other locations for sessions in the future.
You are welcome to attend any of the sessions at any of the locations. If you can’t make it to any of the sessions, please contact us as you can still arrange a free 1-to-1 advice meeting if required as we don’t want you to miss out.
