Hello!  With so much going on we couldn’t wait for our next newsletter so here is a quick update of some of the latest opportunities in Park and Warley that you might be interested in.

Show Your Heart 17th March 9am, Piece Hall – join the movement flyer attached

On Thursday 17th March next week, St Augustine’s invites you to join them and gather at 9am in the Piece Hall courtyard (before it officially opens), to make a giant heart of people and express Calderdale’s support of refugees. 

The image will be captured from above and used in the media as part of a national day of action on the 21st March run by the brilliant Together With Refugees Coalition.

Ramadan Food-Box 2022 flyer attached

Home-delivered Iftar meals for those in need. For the last 3 consecutive years, Halifax Community Fridge has worked with Sheesh Mahal Halifax to ensure no one goes to sleep hungry in Ramadan.
This year is no different, if you know anyone in Calderdale who has nothing to open their fast with, please get in touch with us. Details on attached flyer.

Proposed Parliamentary Boundary Changes
The Boundary Commission for England is currently on the second stage of consultation on proposed changed to Parliamentary Constituency boundaries in England. You can look at the proposals and submit your feedback online by visiting www.bcereviews.org.uk. The consultation is open until 4 April 2022.

Free 13 week SFSC Parenting Programme

If you have children aged 3 – 18 years old, you are invited to take part in a 13 week study to help shape children targeted services in your area in the future.

Anne Lister Birthday Festival 2022 flyer attached

There will also be a special Anne Lister’s Birthday Weekend Victorian Artisan Market, with over 20 stalls and performances from Brighouse Theatre Productions.

Jane Austin Watercolour will be at work throughout the festival and can be found in and around the grounds of the Hall, so be sure to stop and have a chat if you see her.

Cash boost for cultural projects

In the runup to the Year of Culture, the Council is inviting the local voluntary sector to apply for a share of the Calderdale Cultural Fund 2022 – 2025.

Voluntary organisations can apply for between £5000 and £25,000 a year, for up to three years, to deliver their cultural projects. The deadline for grant applications is Wednesday 23 March 2022.

Park Ward Neighbourhood Plan Consultation

Park Ward Neighbourhood Forum has submitted a draft Neighbourhood Development Plan. This sets out a vision for the future of the area and planning policies. This will form part of the development plan used to determine planning applications locally. We invite comments on the plan and supporting documents.

Vacancy! Sessional Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker

As part of the Bradford Survive and Thrive contract; Staying Put, WomenCentre & Family Action are delivering a service to ensure families who have experienced domestic abuse & sexual violence receive the right support at the right time, to make them safe, sooner, and help promote recovery and healing.

Office base will be at WomenCentre offices in Halifax with hot desk facilities at partner agencies on the Survive and Thrive Contract. The postholder will be required to deliver one-to-one and group sessions in community based venues across Bradford and District.
