Never Hungry Again campaign

Last week we were delighted to announce that TV stars and comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont, who live in Mytholmroyd, have pledged their support for our Never Hungry Again campaign, which aims to end child hunger in Calderdale for good.

This comes as the new £100,000 #NeverHungryAgain fund opens for applications, after its official launch at Calderdale’s Food Poverty Forum on Thursday 10 December.

Calderdale community organisations can apply for grants of up to £5000 from the fund, to support vulnerable children and families who have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Never Hungry Again campaign was launched by Calderdale Council, the Community Foundation for Calderdale, The Piece Hall Trust and other partner organisations across the borough back in October. The aim is to eradicate local food poverty, not only during school holidays, but forever – adding to the longstanding partnership work to tackle poverty, reduce inequalities and build hope through the Vision2024 for Calderdale.

The campaign and fund couldn’t have been pulled together so quickly without our amazing ongoing partnership work with the voluntary and community sector who have continued to step up help respond to ongoing need in people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have been incredibly proud of the overwhelming kindness local people and organisations have shown so far by donating to the fund and providing other support including offers of food to those most in need.

Thanks to the generous donations, plus contributions from the Council, the Community Foundation for Calderdale and the Government, community groups, charities, schools and sports clubs can now apply for a share of the £100,000 fund up until Thursday 7 January 2021 by completing this web form

No child or young person should go hungry in Calderdale. The project has shown that by working together we can build hope, raise people’s aspirations and help to give children the best start in life.
