Local community comes together to celebrate Jo Cox’s The Great Get Together Iftar

On Thursday 15th June, we hosted our fifth annual community iftar as part of the Jo Cox The Great Get Together.  People from all across Calderdale came and opened their fast with us during this holy month of Ramadan. ( Iftar is the evening meal when Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.)

The Mayor and Mayoress attended along with leader of the Council Tim Swift and the new Chief Executive of the Council Robin Tuddenham, who also helped served the dhal to our guests ( its nice on rice!).

Nearly 90 people from all faiths ate together and shared food asweel as chatter. This iftari demonstrated the strengths of our communities in Calderdale and how together we have #MoreInCommon.

We would like to thank the local ladies from Park ward for providing us with some dishes and the their kindness for spending the day cooking for the masses.

We would like to wish Ramadan Mubarak to our fellow Muslims, who will soon by celebrating Eid next Monday.
