Over 37 Rotarians and guests attended the annual Past Presidents BBQ which was held in the beautifully manicured and bunting decked gardens of one of the Rotarians. The weather was kind with wall to wall sunshine all day long. Shortly after midday Rotarians started to arrived well armed with garden chairs, picnic tables, cutlery and beautiful home made desserts. It didn’t take long to see the table laden with a feast fit for a king.
It was quite something to watch the unexpected culinary skills of Rotarians as they carefully tended the usual BBQ fare of bangers and steaks, need I add that there was no sight of any burnt offerings.
The afternoon progressed in the usual format when Sowerby Bridge Rotarians meet and that is FUN, Friendship and laughter and lively competition. This lively competition took the form of a Past Presidents Egg & Spoon Race. Competition was fierce as the Past Presidents participated in two heats , there were lots of lively appeals about low hanging bunting and holding the egg, with proof of a finger hole in the egg. The final heat took place with loud cheering for each of the three finalists but there was a clear winner to claim the prize bottle of wine. All competitors agreed that it was fun and added a new dimension to the Clubs activities.
