The latest rotary club meeting which took place on 30th June, saw the “Handover” of chains of Office for 2014 – 2015. Outgoing President Richard Goodwin spoke about his action packed year of office comprising of a very diverse range of events from attending Rotary functions, marshalling a wide range of events in and around Sowerby Bridge, fund raising for local, national and international needs to activities/events of a social nature. Although his year has been extremely busy it was a year of fun and satisfaction that the Club was able to give something back to the Community through its fund raising activities. Out going President Richard thanked all Club Members for the support and friendship they had given hime throughout his year of office before handing over the chain of office to incoming President Barry Small.President Barry thanked the now Past President Richard and spoke about his forthcoming year of office and his aims for the year. President Barry Small spoke about the vital role the Rotary Club of Sowerby Bridge plays in the community through projects of many different kinds, in order to continue this vital role it is important to recruit new members both female and male to ensure that the community continues to benefit from the work of our Rotary Clubs.
President Barry informed the Club members that the forthcoming years programme of activities is once again very busy with a wide range of activities but his main focus is to further develop the ethos which has become the hallmark of the Rotary Club of Sowerby Bridge, and that is friendship, team work and above all FUN whilst carrying out the vital role the Club plays in Sowerby Bridge.
