Boys’ Brigade Celebrates 130 Years This Saturday at Manor Heath Park!

Party in the Park 2014130 Years ago William A Smith founded the Boys’ Brigade in Glasgow to give young men opportunities to further themselves.

130 years later The Boys’ Brigade is still doing that same job, offering over 70,000 young people a wide range of fun and exciting opportunities week in, week out.

In Halifax it is hoped that over the 300 members aged between 5 and 18 will come together to share in their first ever, Party in the Park event on Manor Heath to celebrate 130 Years of the ‘hard work’ The Boys’ Brigade has done!

Each section will be doing different activities. Starting with the youngest members first, they will be sharing in fun and games on the field.

The Junior Section have hired an inflatable assault course and they will be tasked to do certain challenges through the course. Along with this they will be doing many other challenges that will all add up to give an over all Score in their Summer Sports Competition!

The final oldest section will be playing bubble football. If you have not seen this you need to search it in you tube – it looks to be the funniest game ever played! Alex Brownridge who chairs the Company Section meetings for the Halifax Battalion said that when this idea first came forward we all agreed that it would be something ‘out of the box’ and provide the lads with a special one off event so that they will be able to use to remember celebrating the 130th Anniversary of The Boys’ Brigade.

The event will end with a Fun Run around the grounds which will be used to raise money for the Battalions Appeal – Ruddi’s Retreat.
