Bhangra and Brass at the First ‘Our Communities’ Awards

Park and Warley share a ward boundary, a High School and on Friday night a glittering, star-studded awards event. On 9 May Halifax High School hosted the first ever ‘Our Communities’ Awards, a joint event recognising and celebrating the individuals and groups whose sterling work both strengthens and improves our communities in Warley and Park wards, and the lives of the people who live in them. The red-carpet guests were welcomed to the event by The Halifax High Brass Band which includes younger children from Mount Pellon School.

Compères, Tony King from N&E Halifax Neighbourhood Team and Wassem Hussain from Halifax Central Initiative kept the audience entertained along with a whole host of young performers from Halifax High and the local community, including Bhangra and street dancers.
