Ebenezer Church Food Drop in update…

  • On Saturday16 March we gave out 124 parcels, 8 of which were to new clients and we had 47 volunteers.
  • On Saturday 23 March we gave out 86 parcels. With weather as bad as it was I think it is amazing that they managed to give out this many parcels!!!

foodparcelWell done to the volunteers who made it in ….. a truly committed team!!  The clients were happy to be in the warm and very grateful for your efforts …. I know some had walked from Mixenden to collect their parcels.

Can you help with a bit of shopping?

We are appealing for help with the shopping which we need to do each week for the Drop In. We need at least two more shoppers to buy top up items for our stockroom. We buy items such as milk, bread, pasta sauces, washing up liquids, toilet rolls, coffee etc.   The shopping has to be done at Asda as we have a system in place with Asda which covers payment for the shopping.  It can be quite heavy at times but if we had more shoppers we could spread the work load out and possibly run it on a rota basis to make it easier for everyone. Preferably we would like the shopping delivering on Thursday mornings but we could handle it if it came in early on Saturdays too. Please get in touch if you feel you could help.

We also need someone (possibly two people) to help on Thursdays with the stockroom. It needs to be someone who is able bodied as there is heavy lifting involved. We need someone who can commit to most Thursdays and work as a team to manage and organise food deliveries and stock.  You would need some basic knowledge of what goes on on Saturdays in the stockroom to understand what is needed and why (but you don’t need to be a volunteer on Saturdays to help on Thursdays).  We are looking for someone to share responsibility for the stockroom and organising of the same. Please get in touch if you feel you could be the person we are looking for.

New Ebenezer will be open for deliveries every Saturday morning 9.00 – 11.45am and   Thursday morning 9.00 – 1.00pm. Cheques are payable to CHRISTIANS TOGETHER CALDERDALE and please write DROP IN on the back so that we know which project it is for.
