A reet good balsom bashing!

Community clean up at Shroggs tip/Brackenbeds

Calderdale Countryside service and Halifax Central Initiative organised an Balsom Bashing/Clean up day on Wednesday 1st September at Brackenbeds.  The event was organised to increase awareness of the issues at the site including  fly tipping, usage of motorbikes causing Anti Social Behaviour and other concerns neighbouring residents have. brackenbed

The event was also supported by the Community wardens, Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Safer, Cleaner Green Team.  Volunteers spent the morning litter picking and balsam bashing alongside the entrance on Pellon Lane and down into the site at Brackenbed.  This event was also supported by the Park Ward Neighbourhood Forum and we are keen to continue doing events similar to this. There was approx. 20-25 bags picked up by the SCG team and the gates were secured to avoid motorbikes using the site.  The community wardens and NPT will continue patrolling the area. We hope to bash some more balsom in future across other areas of Calderdale. If you have any areas that need tackling please get in touch!
