Amidst the heavy rain and gloom yesterday, our team joined by St Paul’s ( Queen’s Road) & St Hilda’s (Gibraltar Road) Church choirs and residents from the Park ward community celebrated the switch on of the Christmas lights on King Cross Road Halifax.
Since 2013, Halifax Central have been working with the local businesses on King Cross Road to promote the high street and the vast array of retail and food premises.
This year we were grateful to receive kind donations from Pound Hut ( 176 King Cross Road ) Pickin Chicken ( 221 King Cross Road) Cake Box ( 230 King Cross Road ) & Mother Hubbard’s Fish & Chips ( 223 King Cross Road ). Tesco at King Cross also provided tubs of chocolates that we gave away as part of the free raffle. Thank you to Park ward councillors gave money from the ward forum budget to make the event happen.
A crowd gathered to sing acapella Christmas carols as the rain poured down, Father Christmas made a special appearance giving out sweets to passing children and posing for photographs.
If you get chance pop along to King Cross Road and see for yourself the hidden gem of shops and the lovely festive lights.
