It’s in the bin….Junior wardens learn how to recycle in Calderdale!

DSCF4906On Tuesday 7th November Calderdale council recycling team advisers, Chris Crossley and Yvonne Hagan, visited  the junior wardens from Christ Church School Sowerby Bridge. to explain the importance of recycling and the negative effect it can have on our environment and wildlife if we fail to do so.

In the session organised by Halifax Central Community Warden Jonny Cato from , Chris and Yvonne spoke to the junior wardens about the various items that can be recycled in Calderdale and also showed the children some items that are made from recycled waste. Calderdale has one of the highest recycling rates in West Yorkshire. The pupils were impressed with how Calderdale recycles and fascinated about where their pop cans, glass bottles and cardboard ends up. The junior wardens have agreed they would recycle a lot more and encourage their parents to do more,  thank to Calderdale recycling team and Christ Cjurch School for giving up their time..
