35 Hours per week (Job Share Considered) £20,813-£22,827 3 Year Fixed Term Contract

As a result of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund we will be developing an advocacy programme, supporting families of disabled children and young people at times when they most need it.

There will be two distinct strands to your role:

  • The development and management of volunteers who will be matched appropriately with families;
  • Management of a small caseload of more complex cases involved in the project;

The Advocacy Project Officer will be creative, solution focused and driven by person centred principles and approaches.  Success will be defined by supporting families to achieve better outcomes, both for the disabled child, and for the family as a whole.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills and have an in depth understanding of the issues and challenges that families of disabled children might face.  In addition we would expect the successful candidate to have an empowering approach; supporting families find solutions with appropriate support and advocacy.

Pathfinder Project Officer
18 Hours per week £20,813 Pro rata.  Temporary until 31.3.2014

In 2011 Calderdale and North Yorkshire became Department for Education (DfE) Pathfinder sites testing new ways of supporting disabled children and those with special education needs across education, health and social care.  In recognition of the work done to date they have been jointly become Pathfinder Champions to share their experiences with other non-pathfinder sites across Yorkshire and Humberside to help prepare them for the legislative changes coming into effect in 2014.

To deliver the Pathfinder Champion work we are looking to recruit a project officer.  Based within Calderdale Parents and Carers this post will be responsible for running the pathfinder champion work alongside the project teams from North Yorkshire and Calderdale.

The work will involve:

  • running conferences and workshops for other non-pathfinder areas in Yorkshire and Humberside
  • producing regular communications to keep regional and national non-pathfinder areas informed
  • attending national pathfinder champion events

Organisation Support Officer
18 Hours per week £16,681-£17,853 Pro rata.

As the organisation has expanded significantly over the past two years we are looking to appoint an Organisational Support Officer to provide vital administrative and financial support to the organisation.

Although your role will be primarily administrative, you will have the passion for the inclusion of disabled people that we expect from all our staff.  You will marry this with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and an ability to provide support to a team in a fast moving voluntary sector environment.

You will proficient in MS Office have strong numerical skills and have the ability to work to often tight deadlines.
