Speakers from Karma Nirvana  visited Calderdale on Tuesday for the latest Domestic Abuse Partnership event. Karma Nirvana are a Leeds based charity who support victims of honour based violence and forced marriage. They also offer  a point of contact for professionals seeking guidance on supporting victims.   www.karmanirvana.org.uk.

The national organisation runs the Honour Network Helpline which receives over 500 calls a month from both victims and professionals seeking support. In 60% of cases victims are under 17 years old. There are still high levels of under-reporting on this issue nationally and the event helped local agencies gain confidence in helping more victims come forward to get the help they need.
