C&K Careers are organising a Take Me On! event at Halifax Careers Centre, 16 Alexandra  Street, Halifax, HX1 1BS on Wednesday 5^th September between 1pm and 4pm where young people can meet up with careers advisers as well as staff from local colleges,  training organisations and employers.

Young people will be able to find out about apprenticeship vacancies and how to apply.  They will get the latest information about college and other training courses and, with help, work out which one will be the best for them.  Local employers, such as Pennine Housing and Sainsbury’s, will also be on hand to give advice about what employers look for on application forms, CVs and at interview.  They will also be able to give advice about the skills and qualities needed in the modern workplace.

 Jill Meade, Manager of Halifax Connexions Centre said   “this is a great opportunity for young people and their parents/carers to meet local learning providers and employers, as well as careers advisers.  We’ve invited a whole range of specialists to the Careers Centre for young people to meet and chat to.  The job market is very competitive now and we want to give young people every possible chance to equip themselves with the right skills, knowledge and qualifications.  They can come along and talk to people who know where the vacancies are and how to apply for them.”

Summer is over and exam results are out – what next?  For anyone who hasn’t got fixed up with a job, apprenticeship or course “Take Me On!” is for you.  Come along to the Careers Centre on Wednesday 5^th September and get some extra help to take your next steps.
