Exhibition: Blooming Marvellous21 July – 9 September
Knitting has become a hobby for all generation to get involved with and this exhibition and this exhibition has brought together people of all ages and abilities to create this unique knitted garden, unlocking people’s creativity and stimulating their imagination. The project was initiated by artist Pauline Stanley in Bournemouth where it attracted 1800 knitters aged 2 – 99 to get involved.
The aim of Blooming Marvellous is to ensure knitting and crochet skills are handed down through the generations and that they are explored as an art medium.
The garden is touring around the UK and each venue makes something to add to it. You will be able to get involved and add to it whilst it is at Bankfield Museum!
On Friday 27th July and Wednesday 8th August from 12 noon until 2 pm June Onigbanjo will be leading this project to produce a knitted flowerbed. We are inviting budding knitters and crocheters of all ages to join us in adding to the exhibition. June will be on hand to teach basic knitting and crocheting techniques.
