£100,000 Urgent appeal
| The Winter Shelter is where people who are street homeless can escape the cold and find the support they need to turn their lives around. In order to meet the complex needs of people in crisis this winter we need to raise an extra £100,000 and we need your help. The Winter Shelter costs £180,000 to run for 6 months. So far we have met some of that cost through grants and fundraising but we urgently need an extra £100,000 to keep running this service through the winter and help more people turn their lives around. Without this extra funding, the service can’t continue. Why does it cost so much? This is a service that deals with very high-risk people who need 24-hour support. We employ 23 specially trained support workers (two per shift, covering 24 hours a day) who know how to meet their needs, build trust and connect them with targeted help so they can move forward with their lives. We are working hard to generate revenue. In the meantime, the cost of living crisis means our food bank and community banqueting table meal services have seen demand increase by over 100% since May. Calderdale is one of the 10% most deprived areas of the UK and our community desperately needs us. That’s why we need to work harder to raise the funds to meet the need on our doorstep. |
