Calderdale COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Update
- It’s not too late to get your first, second or booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccination – these remain available to all who are eligible, and you will be welcomed with open arms. Book an appointment or visit a walk-in clinic www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or call 119 for free.
- If you still need a spring booster we strongly encourage you to book an appointment online, call 119 or find a convenient walk-in site. www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination
- The spring booster will give you protection against Coronavirus during summer. If you’re having a summer holiday in August, getting your spring booster before the end of June will give time for you to gain maximum protection ahead of your trip.
- Getting a spring booster dose before the end of June will allow enough time before the next seasonal dose to extend protection over winter, and against any possible resurgence in infection levels.
- When the time comes, the NHS will be inviting eligible people for a seasonal dose during autumn/winter. You may also be able to get your flu vaccination in the same visit.
- Children aged 5 to 11 are still eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and can get their second dose 12 weeks after their first. Find out more and book and appointment www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination
- Going abroad? Don’t forget to check your NHS COVID pass. Set up your account at least two weeks before you want to use the digital pass. You can also get the pass in other formats including letter, audio and Braille. These can take seven days to arrive. If you think your COVID pass is incorrect the national Vaccine Data Resolution team can help. Contact them by calling 119. Please note, they can take up to 10 days to resolve issues. www.nhs.uk/nhscovidpass

Cost of Living

A huge number of residents still haven’t applied for the Council Tax Energy Rebate, The deadline to submit an application is 22 August 2022. Unfortunately, applications will not be considered after this date and the £150 will be deducted directly from their Council Tax account for this financial year. Please share this information with your friends and family and make sure they are receiving this money that they are entitled to. The team are paying the £150 energy rebates as quickly as they can. This will be shown on bank statements as CTAX Energy Rebate. They are dealing with very high volumes of applications and appreciate patience at this time. People do not need to contact us; they will contact customers if they need more information.
Are you feeling the pinch?
It goes without saying that the cost-of-living crisis is affecting everybody in some way or another. For some it may be cancelling the Netflix or Amazon Prime subscriptions and taking a holiday in the UK rather than abroad but for others it’s much more serious and may be building up rent arrears and not being able to feed their family.
The council is currently pulling together some really helpful support which we’ll tell you about soon but to support you now Calderdale’s Anti-Poverty Partnership has prepared the attached 2-page cost-of-living factsheet and attached 1-page affordable warmth guide. Talk about it with people you meet every day, such as your colleagues, partners, clients, friends or relatives.
So how can you increase your household income? Here are a few examples…
- Across Calderdale thousands of people are missing out on benefits they are entitled to. Encourage people you know to check their entitlements. The Money & Wellbeing Information Centre will point you in the right direction.
- Cut your energy use and potentially save £375 a year on your bills and help the planet. This includes simple things like drying clothes naturally and washing at 30 degrees. Watch out for our #fuelyourknowledge campaign in the autumn.
- Sharpen up your budgeting skills. There are budget tools online to help you create a budget. If you don’t have one try this 30 minute budget tool to get started.
By reading and sharing this information with your partnerships, teams, colleagues, friends and family you could help someone make a small change that makes a big difference to their wallet and wellbeing.
For enquiries about the Money & Wellbeing Information Centre www.calderdale.gov.uk/mwic or factsheet please email antipovertyaction@calderdale.gov.uk.
We’d love to hear how this information has helped you or someone you know. If you have any feedback, please email it to antipovertyaction@calderdale.gov.uk.
