APPLY NOW FOR CHANNEL 4’S CONTENT CREATIVES 2022

Applications are now open for the Channel 4 Content Creatives scheme, a 14 week paid training and placement opportunity aimed at young people across Yorkshire, offering the chance to kickstart a career in creative digital media.

Content Creatives is open to 18-24 year olds currently living in Yorkshire. We are particularly keen to offer opportunities to young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Applicants do not need to have any previous experience or a degree in media or digital. We just want to hear from people who have a passion for digital content and want to see how they can turn this into a career.

If you are successful, you will receive six weeks of bespoke training with SharpFutures followed by an eight-week work placement to put these skills into practice at a creative digital organisation in Leeds.

During the first six weeks of the scheme, which starts in May, you will experience all aspects of creating and delivering digital content. You’ll undertake a range of courses covering skills such as production techniques, digital storytelling, ideas generation and pitching skills, alongside soft skills such as communication and teamwork. After this training, you will then complete an eight week placement to put these skills into practice. As well as offering placements with 4Studio, C4’s Leeds-based digital content production unit, Channel 4 have partnered with the creative and gaming companies Born Ugly, CreativeRace, Dubit, McCann Leeds and Social who can offer a range of exciting placements to successful candidates.

Changes to bus services

Services at Halifax Bus Station are set to change from later this month (February) as work progresses on a new £17.7 million state-of-the-art facility delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority in partnership with Calderdale Council.

Alongside improved passenger facilities and better access to the town centre, plans for the new station include environmentally friendly features, such as measures to enable the future introduction of electric bus charging points, bike parking and solar panels, a living roof complete with plants, and a water storage tank to manage the flow of rainwater in a storm.

From Sunday 27 February, the station entrance, travel centre and bus stands are being relocated to the other side of the site, near the Sunday School Façade and Sainsbury’s on Winding Road. Services 586 and 587, 226, 348 and 349 will also move to town centre bus stops from that date.

Calderdale Forum 50 Plus seeks new committee members (advert attached)

This is an exciting time for Calderdale Forum 50 Plus as the council has just committed to making Calderdale an “age-friendly” region.  With more than a third of residents now aged over 50, the role of the Forum will become more important over the next few years.

Calderdale Forum 50 Plus is a voluntary group that supports and represents people aged 50 and over in Calderdale and highlights information and issues which are useful and important to this age group.  We also signpost and connect older people to local groups, clubs, societies, charities, as well as events and service providers. We collate guidance on key later life issues such as housing, benefits and finance, care of all kinds and physical and mental health.

We are looking for two new members to complement the management committee’s existing skills.  People with an interest in improving the lives of older people who have experience in the commercial, public or charitable sectors.  Specific skills in funding bids, strategic planning, sales & marketing or have a track record of volunteering are welcome to apply.  We are also looking for applicants who can represent the Asian community in Calderdale.

Interested applicants should complete an application form and email it to info@calderdaleforum50plus.com by Friday 11 March. The form can be downloaded from our website at: https://calderdaleforum50plus.com/2022/02/11/forum-seeks-new-committee-members/

Park Ward Neighbourhood Plan Consultation (flyer attached)

Park Ward Neighbourhood Forum has submitted a draft Neighbourhood Development Plan. This sets out a vision for the future of the area and planning policies.
