Make Caring Visible and Valued
Carers Week raises awareness of caring, highlights the challenges unpaid carers face and recognises the contribution they make to families and communities across the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
In the UK, there are 6.5 million people who are carers that look after someone who is ill, disabled, has a mental or physical illness or needs extra help as they grow older.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, carers are continuing to face new challenges. Many people are taking on more caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who need support. The campaign aims to recognise the difficulties carers are experiencing and provide information, support and understanding. The theme for this year is Make Caring Visible and Valued.
It is vitally important that we recognise the contribution carers make to their families and local communities, workplaces and society, and that they get the support they need.
