Halifax Opportunities Trust are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Community Gardener to maintain and develop The Outback Garden – a beautiful community garden, and to maintain the planting spaces at the Elsie
Whiteley Innovation Centre, both situated in Central Halifax.

Community Gardener
21 hours per week
Salary – £22,000 per annum (£12,320 actual pro rata)

You will be responsible for the cultivation of a wide range of plants and will produce/harvest a small range of edible produce for sale locally and at Halifax Opportunities Trust’s premises. You will engage, support and motivate volunteers, facilitate outdoor and gardening activities, and help to plan and deliver seasonal garden events.
You will need:

➢ To be a team player who has the ability to effectively motivate and supervise volunteers
and work with members of the public
➢ Experience of gardening, using organic methods
➢ Sound basic education with evidence of numeracy and literacy
➢ Experience of using all types of day to day garden equipment and machinery
➢ The ability to organise and prioritise own workload

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardener with a recognised horticulture qualification or wide experience of gardening and experience of working in community or therapeutic gardening.
