Community Response Coordinator (COVID-19)VAC/VSI Alliance Halifax, West Yorkshire

£24,964 (pro-rata)

Contract, Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract to 30th April 2022

Voluntary Action Calderdale (VAC) are on a mission to create connections, solutions and opportunities that build stronger communities. We are a membership organisation and a partner within the Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Alliance which delivers a range of support and services to Voluntary, Community and Sector Enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups across the Borough of Calderdale. 

This post will be pivotal to the fight against Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Calderdale by engaging and working with local communities, the VCSE and wider partners.  The post will involve:

  • Building strong links with the communities of Calderdale to promote community action to help prevent Covid related outbreaks
  • Working with local people, community networks and community-based services to develop effective approaches to keep communities safe and reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission within communities. 
  • Coordination of support to communities and individuals who are vulnerable and/or in isolation to ensure they have access to food, medication and other essential needs whilst in isolation

We encourage applications from individuals from under represented communities and those who have experience of working with and engaging with a wide range of diverse groups and communities with particular emphasis on Black, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BMER) communities utilizing appropriate and varied methods and communication skills and knowledge of cultural, health-related and social issues faced by BMER people.

The post will work as part of the Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Alliance and will be hosted by VAC and based at The Resource Centre, Hall St, Halifax, HX1 5AY.  The post holder will be expected to work flexibly and across the Calderdale.
