Calderdale Council Covid-19 (Coronavirus) update

Following last nights Ministerial announcement from Boris Johnson, many of our services have been affected. We’re working as hard as we can to minimise the impact on our essential services.

Here’s a breakdown of what has been affected 👇

🗑️ Waste and recycling: Bulky waste and container deliveries are suspended and all recycling centres are now closed until further notice. Garden waste collections have also been suspended. Existing subscriptions will be carried over to 2021.

There are currently some delays to recycling collections as we have reduced crews, but please put out your recycling as you normally would. We’ll update our social media and http://calderdale.gov/coronavirus if circumstances change.

🏦 Public buildings and halls: All public buildings and halls are now closed, including our Customer First offices. Markets remain open.

💍 Weddings and civil partnerships: Ceremonies due to take place between now and 30 April have been postponed. Our registrars are contacting everyone affected. If you have any questions please email: ceremonies.team@calderdale.gov.uk.

🏃‍♂️ Leisure centres, museums, Victoria Theatre Halifax and Shay Stadium remain closed until further notice. You can read more about these closures here: http://news.calderdale.gov.uk/council-run-leisure-and-cult…/

📚 All libraries are closed until further notice. The Home Library Service is currently continuing as normal, and will be enhanced with support from staff redeployed from other library services. There will be no library fines during the closure period.

👦🏾 Calderdale Adult Learning is now closed and Calderdale Youth Service has closed its open sessions in buildings.One-to-one support via web-based contact will continue with vulnerable young people with the aim to encourage them to take part in positive activities at a safe distance.

⚰️ Services at Park Wood Crematorium: Park Wood Crematorium remains open. All funerals are still going ahead, but are limited to ten attendees. If you’re due to attend a funeral in the coming weeks, please contact the funeral director.

🌲 Parks and Playgrounds: All playgrounds across Calderdale are being closed, following social distancing restrictions. Parks will remain open for daily exercise.

🛍️ Markets: All our markets remain open, but only essential food and fresh produce stalls are trading. Our Markets staff are working hard to make sure there is adequate social distancing measures in place.

We kindly ask everyone in Calderdale not to call our contact centre unless it is urgent. You can make use of our live-chat service by visiting: https://bit.ly/CalderdaleLiveChat

We’ll continue to update our social media as new information becomes available. Stay safe and well 💚
