888 is the magic number…

work club pics 001Over the past three months staff from Halifax Central Initiative have dealt with 888 individual enquiries from local residents. Bulky waste and rubbish was the biggest concern for our community warden Zameer Akhtar, for our neighbourhood officers, benefit enquiries and help with Job seekers allowance has proved to be the biggest request for help from residents. Due to the increasing demand with help for job search and CV’s, we have partnered up with Jobcentre Plus and now run a weekly Work club every Friday morning 10am to 12pm, we have three public access computers for residents to come and search and apply for jobs, as well get support on CV’s, interview skills and Universal Jobmatch. We have bi-lingual speakers in Urdu, Punjabi, Czech and Slovak to help support residents for the wider community. The open access computers can be used by the public every afternoon from 1.00pm (apart from Wednesday) at Queen’s Road Neighbourhood Centre. For more information on any of the services we deliver at Halifax Central Initiative call 01422 365948.
