A message from Boothtown Local History Group:

Why not come along to our group, we are researching the history of Haley Hill, Akroydon, Boothtown, Old Boothtown and Claremount.

Each of us has a particular area of the community to research but there are areas we cannot cover as yet. We find information on the internet, books from our local library or from the reference department at Central library.

Our initial aim is to put on an exhibition initially at Akroyd library but possibly, in the future, it could become a permanent feature in Bankfield Museum. There will be old maps with information at certain points on the map. We are hoping to speak to residents of Boothtown who remember it as it was early in the 1900s, and we should be able to record these memories at the Celebration Day which is being held at the ‘Pod’ on Grantham Road…
