Three Officers from the Halifax Boys’ Brigade ran the Manchester10k on Sunday 20th May to raise money for the Battalion Appeal – The Overgate Hospice. Rob, Dave and Richard all ran in memory of Julie Patterson who lost her life back in 2011. Julie was the wife of Marc Patterson who is an Officer at the 22nd Halifax (Lee Mount) Company. It was decided that this years Appeal would be for the Overgate hospice in memory of Julie after all the hard work and effort they went to to make her comfortable.
At present the total raised stands at about £700 however money is still coming in. This boost of money will bring the Halifax BB Appeal close to £2000. Robert Batty said that there are still fundraising events waiting to take place. The Halifax BB have decided to donate 25% of its profits from the Halifax Charity Gala on 9th June to the Appeal and on Saturday 16th June the 20th Halifax BB are aiming to climb the height of Mount Everest by walking up and down Wainhouse Tower. The lads need to go up and down 150 times to reach the height and will be getting sponsors to do this.
