Fostering – Make a Living, Make a Difference

In Calderdale, we need new foster carers to provide a loving, supportive and caring home to children currently in care. With more foster carers we could help ensure that wherever possible, looked after children and young people do not have to move schools – this is especially relevant for teenagers nearing important exam times. More carers would also help ensure that brothers and sisters can be looked after together.

As a foster carer you will make a big difference to a child’s life. Children will always remember and value the best care they receive which makes fostering one of the most rewarding jobs you can do. We will offer you a full range of support and guidance, as well as a financial package that will help you plan your daily life. You will receive support from the fostering team, including an allocated social worker. You’ll also receive:

  • regular training opportunities
  • contact details of existing foster carers so you can share your experiences
  • access to a range of support groups
