Outta Power Begins – Free Music Workshops for Young People.

Outta Place has successfully received Youth Music Funding to run a extensive music project at Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre (Halifax). In partnership with Calderdale Young Peoples Services and supported by several partners including Halifax Central Initiative and the Halifax festival.

The title of this project is Outta Power. These workshops are FREE and will run on Wednesday evenings for a year and a half. Week commencing 29th February. From 7pm – 8.30pm.

Young People will have the opportunity to sample a wide range of musical techniques and styles including: Beat-boxing, Scratch DJ, Rap, MC and music production. Perhaps our most experimental art form “Noisy Toys’ which involves circuit bending, recycling and reusing of old electrical equipment (such as a hard drive) to create fresh and dynamic sounds.

Whilst engaging in this project participants will gain a solid grounding in the fundamentals of music production and ensemble work, key skills to becoming a rounded musician and are skills that can be translated into any style of music.

Young People taking part will also get the chance to showcase their new skills at events thought the project, including this year’s Halifax Festival .

So if you are aged between 11- 21 years and have a strong interest in music come down and check these FREE workshops out !
