Halifax Opportunities Trust offer the following support:
~ Employment Support
One to one, in person support with an Employment Advisor for as long as needed. Support to source opportunities (both paid & unpaid), complete application forms, CV writing, specialist barrier intervention, interview preparation and more….
~ Digital Access Drop In
Every Friday morning (9.30am – 12.30pm) at Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre. People can drop in to use the computers to access their Universal Credit accounts, online services (such as key choice, NHS etc.), job searching and more. There is always an Advisor present to support people if they need it. Free tea & coffee (and often biscuits!).
~ Community Information, Advice & Guidance Drop In (leaflet coming soon)
Every Wednesday morning (10am – 12.30pm) Unit 13 at Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre. People can drop in and receive one to one support with what whatever barriers they are facing on their road to employment. For example, they may need to open a new Universal Credit account or need help to bid for properties on their key choice account. They may need help with understanding a letter, or for someone to make a call to a service provider on their behalf. We cannot offer specialist and complex advice for benefits and/or debt, but will ensure they are referred to the correct service (referral, not just signpost).
~ Employer Introductions
When ready for employment, people will be introduced to our Employer Engagement team who will connect them with opportunities within our employer network. These are good quality jobs sourced through our strong relationships with local businesses and are often un-advertised opportunities.
~ Rising Stars Youth Mentoring Scheme
Students attending The Halifax Academy will be matched with volunteer Business Mentors from across Calderdale to help build aspiration & create opportunities for local young people. We are looking for volunteer Mentors – register your interest here: https://forms.office.com/e/NriiQBpvWe
~ Community Advice & Guidance Drop In
Every fortnight on a Thursday at The Halifax Academy. An opportunity for local parents to gain advice & guidance for a variety of issues, which may be barriers on their road to employment. Could include: finding a job or training, household income, opportunities to improve health & wellbeing or referrals to specialist providers.
~ Fuel Bank Foundation Gas & Electric Vouchers
Emergency fuel voucher support for people at risk of self-disconnection and in fuel crisis. Prepayment meters only.
We have been delivering employment support in Halifax for over 21 years, our Advisors are experienced and qualified in Information, Advice & Guidance, we are Matrix accredited and are Quality 4 Health assessed. Our Advisors are Mental Health First Aiders.
