On Wednesday 15th Novemeber, HCI along with our partner West Yourkhire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and road safety officer from Calderdale Coucil put on a mock car crash scene for children in park wrad to demonstrate the dangers of drivinfg, with out seatbelt, speeding and using a mobile phone whilst in chage of a vehicle. We have ran ty and Calderdale College. The college also provided students to play the victims in the car his event over a number of years and asked the children to sign a pledge and take one home to give to a driver in their household. We had over 130 pupils yesterday from, primary, secondary and Calderdale College. Students from the college also volunteered to be the crash victims with various mock injuries, that were cut from the car.

During the morning, the children were shown some road safety videos, prevention manager from West Yorkshire fire & rescue Karina Gonzalaz spoke with the children and did an interactive session about how and why we need to drive safe. The Central neighbourhood Police team were also on hand to give out information and speak about issues locally. We hope the children and young people have taken on board the important messages shown to them and we would like to thank our partners for working with us again in holding this event.
